Grandma Kae came over on Friday and is staying with us through July 3rd, when Mom and Jason W. get back from Hawaii. Saturday we went to Bob's Red Mill (http://www.bobsredmill.com/ ) for breakfast, and I think we saw "Bob" himself with his little terrier. Spent a lot of time watering this weekend, with very high temps - up to about 98f on Sunday, which I think is a record high. I'm very grateful for air conditioning. Today is supposed to be hotter, over 100f. Borage, which is blooming now, was wilting, and my hydrageanas look pretty desolate -- ended up deadheading most of the blooms. Jason got all the sprinklers working again and helped me set up another soaker hose system in a backyard bed. Talked to Sue, who may be coming down later in the week, so we'll get to use two guestrooms at once, which doesn't happen very often.
I've issued "guest author" invitations to this blog to Pete, Tina and (of course) Jason. This way you (they) should be able to post using your own login and passwords, which will be less confusing than using my info, plus we can tell who posted what. In addition, after today, to view this website, you should be able to go to Taitsblog.com as an alternative to the longer taits.typepad.com url. The login and password for viewing the site remain the same. I'm working on a similar blog for work, so as I modify work's blog, I'll probably get ideas for this site.
Nascar update: pretty bad. I was very optimistic because Jamie qualified on the outside pole (2nd) and ran 2nd last year. However, he spun out on the first lap and things didn't get much better from there-ended up 18th. Next week is Daytona, which always is scary; so much is outside the driver's control there. I'm thinking a top 10 finish this year is pretty much out of reach, I'm just hoping to see some significant improvement and maybe a win later in the year. Jeff Gordon won, Boris Said and Tony Stewart had an interesting mini-feud going on. That's about it.
