We had a picture-taking first birthday for Milo the day before his actual birthday. There was a lot of cake (one to eat, one to smash), some costume changes, lots of laughter and quite a few tears. Milo memorably hit multiple parties, including me and Fergus, while a group photograph was being taken. I thought it was funny, but Fergus did not at all. There are lots and lots of photos here.
The birthday party, however, managed to happen at a sweet spot in our calendar where no one had pink eye or too bad of a cold.
The weekend afterwards, we headed up to visit Sue for Easter, then drove back down on Easter to visit in Dundee. Yet more photos here.
Milo at one years old:
He's a rambling, climbing, running little guy,who has a fair amount of crashes as a result of his adventerous exploration. He loves to dance, and has pretty good rhythm. He recently learned to drink through a straw, and will push through any and all to get through to yummy food. He's also very into walking backwards at the moment, and is really, really trying to jump like his big brother. He says mama, dada, and probably hi, but his enunciation is a bit erratic. He waives hello/bye-bye and claps when he does something good like follow instructions. He is still overly fond of getting into toilet paper, plungers, and related items. He likes to flush the toilet. When you tell him "no," he usually sits down, then throws his head back onto the ground while vocalizing his displeasure. He's pretty good and kicking and throwing soccer-type balls, and currently has 6 teeth. Happy happy birthday!
